Richartz Studios is a design focused architecture firm that strives to create unique spaces and experiences for our clients. Successful design comes from designing spaces that embody character, integrity, and the natural environment along with our client’s dreams and passions. Through the careful balance of architecture, interiors, landscape, combined with the interplay of materials and creativity, design concepts both traditional and innovative are possible.

Our design services are based on interactive client communication and successful team building with consultants and General Contractors. This collaborative process has led to many successful residential, retail, restaurant/cafe, landscape, and hospitality projects. We pride ourselves on providing a personal, tailored experience which over the years has led to many life-long clients.

Kevin Richards, principal of Richartz Studios, is a licensed Architect whose expertise ranges from residential, commercial, adaptive re-use, and landscape projects located throughout the Pacific Northwest and across the United States. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kevin has developed a keen awareness and appreciation for our natural environment and its relationship to architecture. Kevin earned his architectural degree from the University of Washington.

In his 35+ years of practice, Kevin has designed both new and renovated projects, leaving his mark in and around Seattle, Bainbridge Island, San Juan Islands, Methow Valley, Oregon, and Montana. Prior to establishing his own design firm, he cofounded EDGE Design Studio with Robert Edson Swain and is currently collaborating on a number of projects with Wes Pierce of Pierce Design.

Kevin has built relationships throughout Seattle and the surrounding communities and has had the opportunity to be involved on music venue projects such as the Showbox Sodo, the Vera Project, the Tractor Tavern and Hall of Justice Recording Studio. Restaurateurs, storeowners, and hoteliers have trusted him with the likes of the Ace Hotel, the Corson Building, Oddfellows Café and Bar, KAVU, Café Presse, Lil’ Woody’s, Stumptown Coffee, Mezzanotte, Ciudad, and King’s Hardware to name a few. Seattle institutions such as Sub Pop Records and Rudy’s Barbershop are among his clients as well as wineries and distilleries such as Hiyu Wine Farm and Batch 206 (now known as Old Log Cabin Distillery).
